Its various subsidiaries are under the Boost Mobile and Open Mobile brands. Additionally, it was also one of the largest mobile network operators in the United States with 54.3 million customers as of June 30, 2019. In April 2020, T-Mobile US acquired Sprint Corporation, making it a subsidiary of T-Mobile. The acquisition led to immediate changes in leadership, background, and stock; however, customer-side changes happened over time.

The Sprint brand was officially discontinued on August 2, 2020, with all retail, customer service, and other company branding switching to the T-Mobile brand. Billing had already shown the T-Mobile brand. Additionally, new rate plans were introduced for all new and existing customers from both companies. Customers were guaranteed to stay in their existing plan for a minimum of three years if they didn’t opt for a new T-Mobile plan. In the summer of 2023, T-Mobile completed the migration of all its customers with previous Sprint account statuses, officially phasing out the Sprint brand.

Sprint also traces its roots back to the Southern Pacific Railroad (SPR), which operated thousands of miles of track and telegraph wire in the 1860s as a subsidiary of the Southern Pacific Company (SPC). In the early 1970s, the company started exploring ways to use its existing communications lines for long-distance calling.

Before the T-Mobile merger, I had Sprint and had to add a SIM card to my phone. In addition, the reception had lag, voicemails were delayed – received messages from 6/18 only on 6/27. Furthermore, the call to report took 18 minutes on hold before getting disconnected. Consequently, no callback was received for number confirmation.
